What My Handwriting Says About Me

Even in this digital world, I still write by hand often. It’s a little inconvenient to put my thoughts, to-do’s etc. in a format where they can’t be searched or added to my Google calendar, but I also find the slow pace of it helps me organize my thoughts better than talking, or even typing. So I have several dozen notebooks full of my script:

"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy blog"

My penmanship is a little distinctive, if only because I’m one of the last people alive who still writes in cursive. While that, in and of itself, may say something about me, I found an infographic that told me some other things about my style as it relates to my psychology. The sometimes-contradictory list of traits is as follows. I am:

  • Shy, withdrawn, studious, concentrated and meticulous
  • Open to experiences, enjoy meeting new people
  • Aggressive, intense, very intelligent, curious
  • Logical, systematic, make decisions carefully
  • May be restricting myself, have feelings of tension
  • Great imagination
  • Confident, comfortable in my own skin
  • Determined, enthusiastic, stubborn, have a hard time letting things go
  • Private, limited to sharing my personal feelings, introvert
  • Open to learning new things, inquisitive, and ambitious
  • Good with commitment and taking things seriously
  • Private, hard to read or understand
  • Organized, methodical, self-reliant
  • High level of energy

So I’m a withdrawn, confident introvert who loves meeting new people. Yeah. But overall, my penmanship makes me sound pretty uptight. Maybe if I loosen up, I’ll start dotting my i’s with little hearts or something. But I can definitely be a little particular, and I do like to keep my pages neat and clean. Oh well. What does your writing say about you?
