Goodyear and Ice Cube Make It a Good Day…20+ Years Later

If you were a fan of hip hop in the mid-1990’s, it was hard to escape Ice Cube’s “It Was A Good Day” (explicit lyrics). If you’re also reading this, and thus aware the song turned 20 last year, you probably feel old. Sorry. I’m right there with you.

But there is good news: on Monday, Cube’s campaign to get Goodyear to commemorate the lyric, “Even saw the lights on the Goodyear blimp/And it said ‘Ice Cube’s a pimp,” finally came to fruition. More than just a vanity project though, the idea was to help raise money for south LA children’s charity, A Place Called Home. So in addition to putting a big old smile on my face, they also got to help out some deserving kids.
